When you enter our office for the first time, you will be greeted with a warm smile by our front office manager.  If you have filled our forms out already, the doctor will enter the consultation room with you and ask about your current health concerns by taking a health history.  The health history investigates both your current health situation, as well as any past health challenges, including accidents, illnesses, diseases, and family history.  The doctor will ask you about what medications you are currently taking, if any.  If you are taking  more than four medications, please bring a list of them to the initial consultation so the doctor can copy them and put it in your records.

After the doctor has completed the history taking, you will be instructed to put on a gown.  You only need to take off your shirt or blouse.  The gown completely covers you and the doctor only needs to investigate your spine and muscles of the back.  Should you suffer from a problem in the upper or lower extremities, the doctor will evaluate them as well.  Our examination seeks to locate and detect spinal subluxations by doing a number of different tests.  These include Surface EMG and Thermography, range of motion of the spine, postural evaluation, and spinal palpation (feeling the spine by hand to determine areas of stress and irritation) and x-rays.  We usually do not x-ray children under 12 unless we find abnormalities in the spine in our examination process.

Once the doctor is done with the x-rays, you can return to the examination room and take off the gown and get dressed again.  Our front office manager will schedule you for your Report of Findings visit where the doctor sits down with you and discusses your test results.  At this time, you pay for your examination costs and if x-rays were taken, you would pay for them as well.  Our office policy states that patients pay for all fees at the time of the visit, whether or not they have insurance coverage.  If you have insurance that covers chiropractic, we will be happy to provide  you with a claim form to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.   This claim form is typically given to you on your next visit, allowing our staff  to carefully input all of your information in our computer.

After the doctor presents your test results and his recommendations for care, our office manager will then offer your various financial plans for your care program.  Your first chiropractic spinal correction (adjustment) will also be given afterwards should the doctor accept you as a patient, and should you decide you desire to begin your program of care.  For patients experiencing considerable pain and discomfort, we may provide chiropractic care to you on the same day of your examination visit.

Your initial visit takes about 45 - 60 minutes, and your second visit which includes the Report of Findings, and your first adjustment usually takes about 30 - 45 minutes.  Thereafter you can expect each additional visit to take no more than 15 to 20 minutes from the time you enter our office to the time you leave.

Thank you for choosing Dr. Jameson and Dr. Gossett as your chiropractors.  We will do our best to make your time in our office pleasurable and healing.  Don't forget to tell others about your positive experiences at Bayshore Chiropractic!
